In 2010 the Maine State Library received a $1.36 million BTOP (Broadband Technology Opportunities Program) award for the Maine Public Library Information Commons Project. As a result every Maine citizen has access to a veritable potpourri of resources. Courses and webinars related to digital literacy are available covering such topics as computer basics, the Internet, Microsoft applications like Excel and Word as well as instructions in social media and shopping for the right computer.
